I recently came into possesion of a Colt Sporter H bar. The gun is in the 238*** serial number range. How hard would it be to add the collapsible stock and a 16 inch Flat top upper. Other then needing an offset pin would I be good to go? THe gun does not have the Pinned in sear block THe bolt is the round style  any help is appreciated. If anybody has a picture of one in this configuration that would be great also.

It would be easy.

My friend has a Sporter HBAR serial number MH007xxx and it is small pivot pin, drilled for detent etc but has the .250" double headed screw.  The MH is an important part of the serial number.  The stock change is not an issue, the only issue about an upper is you will need to use a Colt half circle carrier, mill off the bottom of an M16 or AR15 carrier to convert it to a half circle configuration, or mill/grind the sear block down to allow a full circle AR15 or M16 bolt carrier.  The pin size is standard not the large older Colt .315" double headed screw size.  The trigger pins are the the large Colt .170" if you ever change out the trigger.

the bolt that is n it appears to be circular and the gun does not have a pinned in block.

The lower is the least expensive part of the deal.  Unless you  are determined to keep it all Colt by getting a Colt upper ($$$$), you might be better served to keep/sell the HBar and get something else configured to your liking.
What color is the lower?  If it's grey rather than black, there will be guys here salavating already.

I am very interested to know the two or three letter serial prefix, SP1, SP2, SP3, MH, CMH etc.  The fact that your's has no sear block and full circle bolt and that serial number doesn't jive unless it is a late Sporter II, which would have the large, .315" pivot screw and no fence on the mag button.  I am by no means a Colt expert but know which configs I have seen.  The earliest HBARs that I saw were MH prefix serial number with sear blocks.  I have never seen a large pivot pin HBAR, they all had gov't (m16A2) weight barrels.

That will require an adapter to put a late model flattop upper on, unless you happen to find an ultra rare large hole flattop upper receiver.  That gun is worth a chunk of change as is.  That is definitely the oldest HBAR I have ever seen.  That baby will have the standard .154" trigger pins.  Keep it as is, build up an extra upper and use the adapter bushing or sell that baby and get three flattops!

Sorry for the hi-jack, I am new to AR's. I just bought one on Tuesday. Looking at the pics and the model # it is virtually the same as the one I just purchased. My ser# is SP 223XXX though. When you say "chunk of change", how much do you think its worth? I am trying to validate to my wife how much I spent on it!

FWIW, my A2 has a sear block in the lower and I've had uppers with full bolt carriers work just fine in them.  Mine is not as old as the OP's but it has a sear block and it never affected function.  It is still lower than the hammer back.

Nice AR to the OP.
