I'm finally going to do a retro carbine.  I have an A1 upper and lower receivers, fake modulator, and A1 collapsible stock.  Of course the lower parts kit comes with an A2 grip.  Besides buying an SP-1 and trading the pistol grip, does any one know of where I might be able to buy an A1 pistol grip?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm afraid your only option is to buy an SP-1.

I know I said I wouldn't buy anymore firearms this month.
But honey, I needed the A1 pistol grip.
I didn't even want the rifle, but I might as well keep it for parts.
Hey I'm going to order 1 more $10 part...a small black piece of plastic is all.

My current tactic is "So, sweetie, this is the rifle I'm going to build for you."
Her:  "It looks just like that other one."

Scott,

I have had good luck with GunParts Corp.

http://www.e-gunparts.com/product.asp?chrProductSKU=551930B&MC=

If you're not sure that is the right part, call them and they will make sure you get what you want (if they have it of course).

Not cheap - probably Colt retail but these guys have, what appears to be, access to Colt's inventory.  They still list quite a few A1 small parts including new Colt A1 grips.  Since I wanted new - this is where I got mine.

In the AR lower receivers and parts tab about 2/3 of the way down.

Pistol Grip, A1, Used, Excellent  5.95

I used one and it looked great.

Thanks for all the replies.  It is funny.  A couple of years ago, a guy posted on the WTT board that he wanted to trade an A2 for an A1.  I had updated an SP-1 (during the ban) and I still had the A1 grip.  I just sent him the grip.  I had several A2 grips, and figured I'd someday get something back just because of the carma.  Another member "frankieb" said that he had an A1 kicking around and could send me one.  AR15 has a lot of great members.  I really appreciate all the help.
