I just bought a Detachable Carry Handle & think it has a Cardinal Forge Mark. Does anyone have a photo so I can double check or a list of Forge Markings? Thanks, J EDIT: Found my answer & it is Cardinal Forge. Can post a pic if anyone else is interested. |

So that those of us who are students of The Black Rifle will know what it was, 20 years from now...  (I never heard of Cardinal...and I've been in & out of AR's since 1970) Back in the mid-90's, in the Build It Yourself Forum, there was a list of the very few forges that made AR receiver forgings...I think there were less than six...but they sold the forgings all over, and there must have been a couple dozen machine shops that machined the forgings and put their names on them...most of the forges put their forging marks on the grip area that eventually got machined away...I think I have a pic of one of the old forgings before machining showing the raised forge mark... It's on one of the 63 CDs worth of archived stuff I have here...somewhere...  Here it is...Pic taken just before [coff*while*coff] machining...  This was a 10/20% receiver that I bought from Les Baer, I think...about 10 years ago... I just noticed that NoDak has their casting mark in that area, too...  William at the Tannery Shop has one of the more common forge marks...but I forget which one it is...   I couldn't find the list of forges...maybe someone else has them???
