They are designed for use in a 14.5" barrel. They are good for that application but for other barrel lengths most people agree it is not worth the extra cash. They will supposedly not work correctly in anything under 14.5". If your AR runs fine then leave it be. If your AR is being a pain and you have a 14.5" barrel mounted then this is a good product to consider if you don't mind the price tag. Some people do use them in their 20" AR's but report nothing exciting other then easier to clean because of the coating on them. Hope this helps.
