I've built a 653 replica over the past year or so and I have a question about the buffer tube lock ring (castle nut).  Was this part staked from the factory.  My nut does not have provisions for stacking like I have seen in some of the stickies here.  The stock and tube is original Colt, but maybe the nut is not?

What do you guys think?  Was the factory nut staked?  Below is the best picture I have of it.

That's not entirely accurate.  The was some spot of paint, or something like paint, on top of staking.  Try to find pictures of a real one on subguns, and you will see what I'm talking about.  There usually is a real factory staked telestock gun on there.

yep, you're right.

That was just a pic to show the proper lock ring.  The tube in the photo isn't mounted on a receiver.

i own an actual 653, let me see if i have a pic of what the original stake job looked like...i'll update with the pic if i find one.

i apologize for the quality of these pics.

please note this is not the original upper that shipped with the gun, but it is the original 2 position staked aluminum telestock

unfortunately these are all i have. they dont really show anything useful
