I have a c -k upper. What makes one better than the other?

The CK is a Colt Kaiser forge code.  LM is Martin Marietta forge code.

They are pretty much identical.  The LM uppers were made as contract spares for when the Colts wore out, were damaged, or destroyed.

Again, the only difference is the Colt markings.

I think it is well worth $140 and would make a great upper receiver for an SAK replacement barrel or any other 70s-era weapon you wanted to put it on.

But as far as forward-assist A1 uppers, it is a good one.

My upper has the conventional rear sight windage wheel. What is that one on his? Looks like you can adjust without the sight tool. Bogus looking, but functional I guess.

It's a Rapidex aftermarket windage knob.  Common in the late 70's.

I have several, and have seen several more of these LM uppers that have an "A" stamped on the opposite side of the charging handle.  What does the "A" signify?  Rebuild mark?

I have Rapidex knobs and A2 aperatures on most of my A1 uppers.  I like the way they work.

What is the story with the dust cover on it? It doesn't appear to have a square or rectangular thinger on it.

Looks like a dust cover for a dedicated blank-firing weapon.
