Have a colt slabside upper with 20" barrel, triangulear handguards etc. in excellent condition no bolt or carrier group. What would a fair price for it be? Thanks, David |
It's not that you offended me, but asking price questions in the retro forum puts the forum in hot water with the site staff because people often turn around and dump the parts on the EE. For this reason a bunch of the retro forum regulars are working to put together a running price list of the max and mins some parts are going for. |

David, Do you know if it is an M16 receiver or an SP1 receiver? The M16 receiver will have both front and rear lug holes with a diameter of 0.250". The SP1 receiver will have a rear lug hole 0.250" and a front hole of 0.315" in diameter. Also, can you tell us what markings are near the muzzle and what markings are near the front sight base? Does the barrel have a three-prong flash suppressor or a birdcage flash suppressor? Describe what you mean by "excellent condition". Thanks, uxb |

Most of the above replies were made because you are boarderline breaking the Code of Conduct (CoC) of this Forum. See Rule 1: www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=123&t=299320 If this ends up in some For Sale add then it is a direct violation of the CoC. Most people just look in the Equipment Exchange to find a something the same to find out a good price. |

It isn't going to end up on the equipment exchange as I explained above. It is a colt SP 1 upper barrel marked C MP B, birdcage flash suppersor. Triangular handguards. front sight has a c on it and something that looks like a bell. it has rub marks but no major dings. Barrel doesn't look like it has had a lot of rounds throuh it. I bought it because I have an older SP 1 with an upper with a FA and I didn't think that would be original to the rifle-but I could be wrong-not my area of expertise. Thanks, David |
David, Here is where you stand. Sounds like a good upper receiver and, by the description, sounds to be in the original factory configuration. Colt did make SP1 uppers with forward assist, so the presence of the forward assist does not necessarily mean it did not come from the factory that way. If you want to PM me with the serial number of your lower (use XX for the last two numbers) I can help you figure out if it is still in the factory configuration or not. If it did not come with the bolt/carrier assembly or charging handle, this is my guesstimate. If you paid less than $150 you got a great deal. If you paid $150-$225 you got a good deal. If you paid $226-$300 you did okay. If you paid $300 or more, I hope they gave you flowers and dinner first. Be sure to take pics and post them here. We love pics. uxb |
