[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Cheap buffer tube?

Hey guys!

trying to finish my A1 build and the only part I am left to buy is the buffer tube for my type D stock. Anybody know the best place to pick one up right now? RRA has them for $16.50 with free shipping if I go over 25 dollars, so that just means I have to buy more AR stuff (oh darn, more AR stuff...) but maybe you guys know a better place to pick a tube up at or know a Christmas deal going on?

Any help would be appriciated! Thanks!

I just got one for my A1 build from Model 1 sales $12.00

Works as it should but the finish is shiny black not Colt gray if that matters.

Unless you need it right now, I would keep an eye out in the EE. I just picked one up for $10 shipped. The threads are good on it, it is black, so I will be putting a coat of Norrel's on the part that shows once installed.

Mine is a (presumably) older tube, as it has no wrench flats on the end; instead it has the two holes so it can be tightened with a screwdriver. It came with an A1 stock, and it is black, not grey.

The tube that came with my 604 kit has smaller than normal wrench flats and is black as well.

I have noticed that the outfits that tend to charge less for pieces (DPMS is another one) tend to ship tubes that are black anodized, w/o the top coating of the lighter color.

Thank goodness for Norrell's.
