I just got my Sherluk AR 15 back yesterday, when I first received it I built my AR and didnt notice any rust on the barrel and around the front sight base.  I took it out and shot it when I came home I was sitting on the porch cleaning all my rifles, and noticed some rust for some reason it was only noticeable in the sunlight.  I scrubbed with oil, and other cleaners, no luck.  I contacted them and told them about my problem, they appollogized and told me to send it back, and that they would fix it.  Yesterday I got it back and was oiling up the barrel around the front sight base and noticed a little red around where the  barrel and base come together.  I got out a old toothbrush and some oil and scrubbed it, problem solved.  I picked the rifle up a couple hours later and there are red "rings" around where the base meets the barrel, but not of the "ring" that is facing the muzzle.  I am wondering if it is normal to put grease on the barrel or base when installing it, and maybe what I have is a red colored grease running out when I put oil on it, and Im just being paranoid.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Cosmoline.

Reddish orange storing/packing grease.  It smells good, too.
