[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Barrel question

Here is the challenge.....
I have 3 M16 barrels.
I want them to go on 3 DIFFERENT clones.
They are the early barrels marked with a 12 out by the muzzle, M VP between the sight base.

So, did these come on anything other than the 602?

According to Ekie's guide, early 603/E1's and 604's. That marking was used up until '66 and the 603/604 came to be in '64.

I thought the 603-604 had the MP mark

ETA: I think I get it.............all models had this in 1963-1964, then they switched to MP?

And 65-66. The switch to "MP" was in 66.

Thanks guys, I think I have it now 64-66.

Do you guys see a lot of these in circulation? I have had tons of barrels, but not these.

I've been saving these ones for a while. When I first got them I thought it was a "W" stamped barrel and almost crapped myself (M upside down). Then I saw the "12" by the muzzle.

I ran across 4 out of all uppers I went through and they were all in this last batch , Guess I really should have saved 1 for myself

You could chop one and make a 605
