Hi Guys,
I have been out of the recreational shooting game for a bit, due to finaces and health problems, but now bouncing back. I am picking up a nice used Colt SP-1 carbine for a really good price, and want to build a XM 177/GAU-5A build on it. Here are a few questions I have.

1) Now that Total Silence is no longer making parts. where is a source for a replica 4.5 moderator? I know Bushmaster makes a barrel with kind of one, but would rather have closer to the real deal.

2) Is the barrel that comes on the Colt of the right thickness to cut down and have rethreaded for the moderator? I figured out the send it to Adco part for instalation.

Thanks to all for any help.

NNNNNOOOOOOOO!

Don't wreck an original SP1 carbine!  You can get a barrel from J&T or many others that will work.  Save your original upper or you'll devalue your gun by at least $300.

+1 Don't ruin the original barrel.
+1 J&T
In answer to both of your questions, 45Bravo can do it all. He makes the moderators, and cuts and refinishes the barrel.

Thanks Guy's, This is the information I needed. Any recommendations on which barrel, and web site/price list for 45Bravo?

Do what I am doing (thanks to everyone's advice here)...

But the components separately (stripped uppers and barrels are easy to find) and have one built.  I got my BM superlight barrel from PK firearms
