Alright,
I'd like to have a XM177E2 clone upper.  Does anyone know who can make one or where to buy one?

Thanks

Do you want a 16.1" reproduction, or do you want the NFA short-barrel version?

16.1"  The one Randall did for you is my inspiration.  I've been trying to contact him and it's pretty much no joy.

Best way to get a quote from Randall is to post the question on his industry forum quotes thread.  Actually, someone just asked for a quote to do an upper like uxb's a couple of weeks ago, and Randall responded.  You may not even need a quote now...check it out about half-way down the page.

ETA: Oops, that way you!  once I get my quote, I just fill out an order form, or ask additional questions on the quotes page.  It has worked so far.

Print out an order form from his site, and write on there what you want. Make it specific. That's what I did.

Very nice.  Is yours non-NFA (the route I'd be going).  What exactly did you fill out on the work order (you can IM it to me if you want).

Thanks

Here is a pic of my carbine:

Randall Rausch of AR15BARRELS.com started with a 14.5" government profile barrel, cut it back to almost 14" and profiled it.  He then threaded the back for the 5.5" FH, and permanently mounted the flashhider.  This gives it a legal 16" length with an 11.5/5.5 look, and yields an effective length of almost 14" for an increase in muzzle velocity and reliability over an 11.5" barrel:

(Second pic copied from Randall)

Randall says that he can do this with a lightweight barrel as well.  If he can do it, this would be cool with a lightweight barrel, XM177 moderator and grenade ring.  It would be as nice looking as uxb's beautiful carbine, while maintaining the advantages of a 14" barrel.

Randall also milled off the bayonet lug. I told him the barrel was for an XM clone, and he knows there's no lug there. I highly recommend his work.
