They disappear pretty quickly at those prices; I've been looking for one of those for a long time.

So they sell for more than $80???

The real question is not the price, the real question here is how long until you list the one you found at the local gunshow for $20 on the EE for $80?

It depends; most of them were cut and the ones that are uncut will vary in price depending on condition, between $50-$75.

I was selling reproductions for $75 each in new condition .   I am completely out with no immediate plans for more.

I don't know where everybody gets this idea. I know recently there have been some for sale that were cut. Most of the ones I've seen for sale for about 10 years, and that's not tons of them, were not cut.

It would appear that you continue to violate the un-enforced Code Of Conduct:

height=8
Retro Forum Code of Conduct

Please read and become familiar with the Retro Forum Code of Conduct. In addition to the AR15.com Site Code of Conduct, the following rules apply to those posting in the Retro Forum:

Regarding all retro forum members:

1) Posting “price requesting” or "look what I found" threads where items are being exchanged or sold are not allowed.

2) Linking to personal items being sold in the Equipment Exchange or linking to personal auctions (Gunbroker, Guns America ect.) is not allowed.

3) The mentioning in posts of personal items for sale in the Equipment Exchange is simply a round-about way of advertising in the tech forums and is not allowed.

I think that when you post "What is the price of ...?" or "How much is X worth?" is a no-no, especially when followed up by stating that you will be moving said parts to the EE.

Appearances are that you tried to skirt the rules and used the Retro Forum to advertise a) That you have scarce and desirable objects, b) That you are determining a value (probably got a bunch of IM and email offers, too, didn't you?) and c) stated that the items would be for sale in the EE.

Same thing you did with the chromed bolt carriers earlier and got away with it then, too.

So as soon as you posted "how much is an original triangle charging handle worth?" the sharks smelled blood and knew a sale was coming...

Eventually the Retro Section will be closed for such behavior, and it will be a great loss.  The posters here have been warned more than once, and with the lack of moderation the behavior prevails.

But one day a mod will get fed up for continuing CoC violations and they will shut us down, just as they have stated.

And don't think it's not coming.

It may be a lock for a week or a month as a warning, or they may just lock it permanently.

This is the reason QUIB is no longer a moderator in this Forum.  He was tired of the consistent attempts at "bending the rules" just enough.

One day this resource will be gone, and all of the information here will be gone.

All it takes is continued violations and a Mod who says "Enough is enough because self-moderation is just allowing others to take advantage."

So, yeah, you've posted something wrong.  Again.

Someone is watching.

Goddammit, did I call it or what?

It astounds me that people continue to come here, ask the value of something, and then *poof* a day later the item appears on the EE for that price + 10%.

I propose that any time in the future someone comes and asks the value of an item, we tell them 50% of actual value.  If someone won't do their own Goddamn reserach and is going to get this section of the forum shut down, we all shoudl at least benefit from that transgression, right?

A more reasonable alternative might be to hav a tacked 'what is it worth thread' with approximate market values of items (and yes, we can still price on the way low end).

Or....maybe the moment someone asks this kind of stuff and we know exactly where it is going, QUOTE THE RULE AND DO NOT REPLY WITH AN ACTUAL VALUE.  If we continue to give people info, they are going to continue to come here.

Another alternative:  It is alright to ask price, but if that person lists that item in the EE in the next week after asking the price, lock their ad and their account.  Done.

We can also say post it on an Auction Site and see what fair market value is.  And fair market is what someone is willing to pay.

An Edgewater buffer would be worth $35-50 for me, but I see people paying more.

I wouldn't sell my XM607 buttstock so fair market value for me would be priceless.  I know someone who sold one for $1500.  Would I pay that? No, but someone did.  I wouldn't sell for that either.

Post it on bidding sites, you'll get exactly what people will think it is worth.

Round two..

this is the point and time that usually the guilty party starts back stepping and trying to save face.

I personaly like this forum. I read it daily and dont want to see it go down. I have learned alot. but some of these people aint here to learn, they are here to break rules.
why do you have to ruin it for others. Is IT GREED? or is it you dont think that the rules apply to you? I do have one other question.  what is the first post on this thread

"Just curious"

thats a "LIE"  you even admit it. If its going to the EE it aint "just curious"

CAN I GET AN AY MANNN BROTHER!!!!!!!! Low ball them all. We are shootng ourselfs im the foot letting people come on here and ask a price of something you know they probably didn't pay a fraction of that for and then letting them sell it to us.

The site CoC rule against selling or advertising in the Tech Forums was a CoC rule long before the introduction of the Retro Forum.

The introduction of the Retro Forum, along with the sudden increase in the popularity of Retro Rifles and the availability of their parts, turned the Retro Forum into a means of advertising for certain individuals. When I observed this sudden increase in violations in the site CoC I decided it was time to enact a Retro Forum specific CoC which simply mirrored the current site CoC.

With out a CoC rule regarding threads of  a WTB or WTS nature, or with out a CoC rule regarding threads posted with the intent of drumming up interest in parts about to be put up for sale in the E n’ E, the Retro Forum would have lost all focus and original intent. And that focus and original intent was a gathering place for the discussion of Retro Rifles. Not a means by which individuals could profit from the sudden increase and interest in Retro Rifles and the parts required to build Retro Rifles. This type of conduct was no where else to be seen on this entire web site.

When I tried to keep the forum focused on it’s intent and began locking or deleting threads that were direct violations against the  CoC I suddenly became the bad guy. Back then, the locking of a thread of this nature would have filled my IM inbox full of nasty hate mail.

So with that I simply resigned as Moderator. Whether or not this type of post is allowed to continue is strictly up to the forum members and the current moderators.

Well, now that that is out of the way I hope you will continue to be a part of the Retro Forum. Please don't think that you are being singled out. This happens quite often when someone comes to the Retro Forum. In fact, a LOT of us have done the same type of thing and been reprimanded. I think we should all band together and when we see a newb post like this we should just direct them to read the COC. the first reply to a questionable post should be something like "Please read the Code of Conduct at the top of the page." And then NO ONE should post anything else, at all. Let the post dye on it's own.
