I have purchased 3 from Moore's and they are still in the original wrap from 1969.  This is exactly what was issued to me in 1970 when issued a brand new m16a1.  It is sort of a greenish brown nylon and very stiff.  The metal is greenish brown also.  Only draw back is they are charging $25.00 a pop for the new ones.  Do not get one of the used ones as they are very limp and without the original coloration.  Moore's is really great to deal with, very customer friendly!

I ordered a used sling from 'em a while back .... $10 (IIRC), and was in fairly good shape.

I picked up a couple new in the wrap (August 1968) on the Equipment Exhange a few weeks ago for $10.00 each.

I snatched a couple of the old ones for free from my local surplus hunt; two cotton ones and one nylon one; one of the cotton slings was virtually new; that one is on my M1903A1 (until I get a lether one) and the nylon one is going on my retro A1 project rifle.

Right there on the left; is in nice shape with just a bit of age to give it a nice "Been There" look.
