The receiver has a counterbored front lug, but lacks the Colt proofs. What's odd is the barrel is marked "MP" and "C" like a Colt barrel. But, front base has a sideways 3 and a roll pinned swivel as shown in the pic. Did Colt provide barrels to H&R?

This would be a question for weaponsman.

So if I'm reading your serial number list correctly, H&R was only contracted to make rifles from 68-71? That would make sense with the barrel markings if they did come from Colt. Maybe they sent them leftover barrels since they made a marking change themselves during that time.

Just a guess , here but the H&R upper may have been rebarrelled later.

Maybe the C just means chrome chamber? The Colts with the MP marking have a 12 on the barrel.  The later Colts are marked CMP C on the barrel.

I'm guessing Colt supplied the barrel to H&R. H&R's were built between 68-71. The "MP" between the legs and "C" toward the muzzle are Colt marks from 69-71. What's odd is the "3" on the sight base. I don't think that is Colt.
