I just bought a police trade in Colt SP1 in exc condition. The serial number range is 108XX.  I am not certain if it has had components swapped out or if it is in original unmolested condition. The features are as follows.

The Barrel is marked "MP" between the front site posts and "C" behind the three prong flash hider. The chamber appears to be chrome plated.

The bolt is grey/black finished with an "MP" marking behind the locking lugs.

The AR-15 bolt carrier is grey/black finished and has forward assist notches. The carrier does not appear to have any markings.

The buttstock is the non-trap door type with drain hole screw.

Edgewater buffer with non-pinned tube

The lower has raised "+" near pivot area. The pins and selector are the non-dimpled type.

The upper receiver is the non forward assist type and has no markings

I am new to this forum and have recently gotten the "retro" bug!

Thanks

Check the SP1 database sticky at the top of the retro page and repost your rifle data in that thread. From the items you listed it sounds to be all original.

Sounds like a great snag!! See, the bite doesn't hurt that much...

The notches for the forward assist on the bolt carrier made me suspect some police armorer switched carrier assemblies sometime in the last 30 years.  Other SP1's in the same serial number range seem to have un-notched carriers according to EKIE's list.  I'll add this post to EKIE's list.

Thanks for the info!
