I have a A1 buttstock I am wanting to use on a A1 buld....imagine that...

Anyways, I am not that familiar with stock replacement so I need help.  Will an A2 buffer tube work?  If not where do you find an A1 buffer tube?    I think I remember hearing they interchange but before I ordered one wanted to make sure.  Thanks.

Buffer tubes are the same.  The a2 stock uses an extra spacer to add more length to the buffer tube.

Order away!

You will need the shorter A1 buttstock screw.  They can be hard to find. DPMS carrys them usually.

Yes an A2 buffertube will work but you'll need an A1 stock screw.

Also, make sure you pay close attention to the spring for the rear takedown pin detent. It can fall out once the stock has been removed. Be careful when putting the new stock on as you can kink or crush the spring.

Thanks all.  I bought the screw last week on the EE here.  I just need a lower now.  Was talking to my boss today and he used to be a professional welder and welding inspector.  Well his son works at a motorcycle store where they weld alluminum and my boss is welcome to use the equiptment. Soooooo.  I'm gonna try a conversion and he has offered to do the welds free.
Thanks again

Good topic. I have an A1 stock with one screw hole at the top thats going on an SP1 upper and an RRA lower. No trap door and it appears to be a #7 according to the sticky topics. I dont have a short screw, or a long one for that matter. Does that screw tie into the rear of the buffer? Also, does the spacer up at the reciever have to be a particular thickness or will any spacer work? Sorry for the dumb questions but when I built my Commando I had all the parts and it was pretty visual. But I dont have all the parts to this newest one so Im kind of in the dark.

Huh? Spacer? What spacer?

Where the stock meets the lower, isnt there a small spacer there?

That spacer you're seeing is part of the tube. Rifle tubes screw in until the shoulder on the tube (your spacer) hits the lower.
