Another way to get "close":  cut lgtwht bbl to 14.75 + perm pin weld A1 birdcage.

Looks like I'm gonna have a partial fence lower for my 607 build soon! And my upper is nearing completion! I'll post pics when I get the lower.

45Bravo - I love the look of the E1. It was the Mk18 of it's day. Of course, the 607 and E2 clones always get my attention as well. Who can't love a shorty?

Unclemoak - that's some beautiful machining BTW.

How is it motified? Just the fence? Why didnt you do the front and rear reinforcements? Very nice start though!

No, the fence is still there.  I just filled in the rollmarks.  I think I will purchase one of those lowers that are built A1 style.  I don't own a mill and I didn't want to freehand the cuts.

Finally got my Model 609 / XM77E1 completed thanks to all of UXB's help.

I couldn't be happier with it.  It is light, handy, and accurate to boot.  It may not be built with accurate retro parts like the correct pins, etc , and an old lower receiver, but it is exactly like I wanted it to be.

I asked for a rifle that looked and handled like a Model 609 that would be accurate within a 100 - 150 yard distance and then I built it.  It cycles perfectly without any hiccups and is spot on the steel at 100 yds.

Next it gets a Krylon job, and a beater compact ACOG (2X Magnification) if I can find one for a decent price.

Thanks again UXB, I couldn't have done it without you

Man, that turned out great!  I'll have to come and visit you this summer and I'll bring a 607 and my 609 over, too!

Glad I could help, I've been waiting on pictures.  You done good!

Edit - just a note of caution.  Your barrel may get hot enough to melt your para cord if they come in contact.  You might want to try looping the para cord through the front sight base above the gas tube and then run your sling thriugh that...

Alright everyone. I've got a lot of slick uppers. Where can I get shorty pencil barrels for 607/609 builds? I never see them on the EE.

Just ask around.  A friend of mine knew what I was trying to build, so while I was waiting for paperwork, his pencil barrel became available.  Colt 1/7 twist - cut to 10.03" and mounted all for $50.00

J&T Distributing carries several lightweight pencil barrels. I used their 11.5 on my build.

They are 1/9 twist

All these XM177E-1's and 607's make my wallet weep.  Stop guys, stop!

Does anyone know if Total Silence and NDS have considered getting together and offering a 607 lower "kit?"

Doublestar lower with markings filled and coated with Norells, colt upper, stock, b/bc, model1 barrel shortened by yours truly, repro grenade ring, and bushy FH reworked to be a bit more authentic and blind pinned / welded. 16.2" from the bolt face.

Here's my XM177E2 clone: Del-Ton 16" lightweight rifle kit built on a Tactics A1 lower.  Reverse flash hider for the moderator and CAR stock in place of the M4 stock which came with the kit.  Tear drop FA was a special request as the lightweight kit comes with round FA.

The hate keeps me warm at night, I didn't have any parents - I was raised by wolves, and yes, those are Tom's handguards, charging handle, moderator and buttstock.

Blanco, It's pretty damn close to an SBR!!  KKF did his kustom made 5.5 XM177 FH fitted to a J&T 11.5 lightweight barrel. Measures just a tad over 16" Pinned and welded over to keep it legal.

Wow, it fooled me!

I'll have pics of my XM177E2 in about 6-8 weeks. Gonna send the forms this week hopefully. Gotta get up to the Sherrif's ofice and then I can send it out.

Just a little note. My E2 will not be COMPLETED when I get the forms back, but the upper will be on my SBR'ed lower (which is my M4 lower, but I put my XM furnature on there) until I get the money together to complete my M4 upper. Then I need to get an NDS16A1 lower for the E2.
