Were the extractors on SP1 rifles and carbines marked with a "C" like the extractors of more recent Colt bolt assemblies?

(For those that are wondering; the "C" is located on the inside of the extractor.  You have to take it off the bolt to see it.)

The SP1 parts, when not especially modified for the piece, like bolt carriers, were stock M16 pieces.  Thus, the early extractors woild have been unmarked, and the later ones marked w/a C. The changover would have been right around the time that M16 extractors were changed over.

Any idea when (what year) colt started the extractor with the C marking?

The C mark started being put on Colt parts when, or shortly after, H&R and GM got M16 contracts. My brain is blanking right this minute on what year that was, exactly; but the info should be in one of Ekies locked postings at the head of this section.

All of mine have "C" on them. All early 70's manufacture.
