[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Help ID Barrels

I have two 20in A1/SP1 barrel assemblies that I've had for a few years. They have the stampings on the bottom of the barrel. They are both marked C MP C. I've never seen ones that are stamped on the bottom. Would like to know who made them. Any help?

Colt.
C=Colt
M=magnetic particle tested
P=proofed
C=chrome lined chamber.

Dated 1969-1971.

I have one of these as well.

Chrome lined chamber, but most likely an unlined bore.

Correct on the chrome lined chamber only. Colt changed the stamping to B when they started lining the bore as well as the chamber. They later changed it again to CHROME BORE.

But what about the markings being on the bottom of the barrel? I thought they were always on the top of the barrel?

The markings were moved to the top when they started stamping them C MP CHROME BORE instead of just C MP B.
