You should have looked down a couple items at these

But alas, they are mine now

Dean is a very standup guy to deal with. I got my 2 of my uppers in the other thread from him.

I saw those. But $174 is a bit much for me.

Wanna sell that extra half you have? I really could use it.

I saw those handguards as well.  Too rich for me though.

i too was just on sturm and saw them both.  the handles could be fixed by welding in a new front peice.  the one without a latch is no good without the latch though.  it would be an adventure to do it.  i would just get a repo form total silence.

I have a good friend that owns an aluminum fab shop and has a plasma cutter.  There will be latches all over the place.

Dude, that rates a "graphic image" warning. That was pretty gross. he

I bet there's an attic of an old arsenal somewhere with 100 NIW sets in it. Just a dream I guess. I will settle for painting mine green, but I wish some Guardsmen out there would change out their HGs and sell us the remnants. I've seen some pics of old ones still out in the ozone. The original brown HGs with optional green paint would make a great retro item IMO. (Hint Hint.)

Had I known...... rats. I put together my 01 copy last May and paid a car shop to paint them . I paid $250 for their expertise. They do look nice but if I could have gotten original I would have.

Mmmm...interesting.  How did they find the correct color?  Is $250 the going rate???

I'll do as many as you want for half that.  I found a set of these originals on Chestnut Ridge's website (they sell stain for M1 and M14 stocks) under "odds and ends" for $85 a few years back. I needed them to complete a partial set I had.  I keep my originals inside nice and cozy and my repro set goes outside to play.

Yeah I am not internet savvy so I guess I could share one with you over e-mail. but I have never really got the hang of posting URL's even though I have a website! Sammy does that for me, I normally keep to making parts.

Kurt,

Yeah if you wanted to you could probably make some coin painting parts. I took an original 601 buttstock and pistol grip that I bought from Dean and had a paint shop match it for me, then I hired someone with fiberglass painting experience to do teh work. Paint cost me $50, painting cost $200. Good luck finding a market at those prices! Hmm, maybe I shouldn't be so skeptical............

There is enough plastic on cars today it is not too hard to find people that know how to paint it.  Actually that price is reasonable for a Bodyshop's time, overhead , etc.
