Looking for a pic of the magwell on a 607 10".  What markings did they have on those M16's?
Did they have safe/semi/auto on both sides of the lower?

I believe all lowers before the A2 had markings only on the left (logo side) side of the lower.

ETA: If you look on the "Real Deal" M16 pic thread (its tacked) you'll see that all of them including the 607 have no markings on the right side.

Do you have your left and right sides confused with each other. The logo is on the left side.

need to see a close up of the wording around the colt logo...

I'm guessing it's just:

"LOGO" "AR-15"

"PROPERTY OF
U.S. GOV"

"M-16"

SERIAL...BLAH BLAH.....

I've see pics of slab side lowers and A1 lowers with the 607....which is technically correct?

Pics of the rifles in Black Rifle don't have a model # and are marked .223.  My lower is only 107# off that one pictured above and has no model # and is marked .223

I doubt a 607 would have a XM16E1 lower on it from the factory.

There werent many 607s made.

I don't understand the logic behind this.

Maybe cause they upgraded from slabside to the partial fence XM16E1 lower right before they stopped making 607s? (ETA: If thats what they did)

ETA: If you were to make a 607 clone with a modified partial fence lower and got rid of the logo and such, would you be able to put AR-15, MODEL 07, or PROPERTY OF U.S. GOVT. XM16E1 on there but no mention of Colt or their logo? Or are those trademarks of Colt/Armalite? Either way, it IS legal to change any marking except the serial?

Might I suggest that you read the following Tacked Topic:
AR15 / M16 A1 Lower - Model Guide / Build Guide / FAQ

And for that matter that you read all of the Tacked Topics at least once before you decide to hit the "New Topic" or "Reply" buttons again!

I will quit wasting your time and keep my poorly written material to myself.

I am sure you can figure it all out,

Alright people, calm down. Lets not have this thread locked again since it CAN be helpful to some of us. I'd like to build a 607 someday and I wouldnt mind knowing the markings in case it's legal to remark it as that. So let's just all play nice.

No, I can't....that's why I asked for YOUR help.  I would have thought you would have given me more credit then that.

I guess I'll have to provide some of my own informative topics...I've got a few things to post this weekend.

Capt Richardson,

I appreciate your fabulous posts and catalogues of these old Colts.

The pic from the book of the marked MOD 07 looks fishy to me.

I have corresponded with the author about my old Colt and I did not feel comfortable with his knowledge on the subject as info he sent to me contradicted mountains of info that I have collected from other sources.

Some pix of an original XM607 from the ATF vault (gun fitted with later handguards)

Partial mag-fence (XM16e1 style) lower

Lower marked only with Colt logo, "AR-15", "Cal .223", and serial #

I really don't see what the contaversy is.  The one with a slabside lower is a prototype and is the only one to exist as far as we have been able to find out and should not be the topic of this discussion.

The 607 has a partial fence lower.  The entire CAR-15 family (as in the first group of AR-15 models.  I'm not refering to carbines) has a partial fence lower.

They include the :

603 (XM16E1)
604 (M16)
605 (Dissy Carbine)
607 (Dog Handler SMG)
608 (Survival Gun)
609 (XM177E1)
610 (XM177 or GAU-5A)
611 (Light Support Weapon)
612 (Light Support Weapon)

The 611/612 were part of the family?  I thought the 606 that you didn't mention encompassed both HBARs.  Of course the 611 was a commercial HBAR (exported to Brunei, Honduras, Lesotho, Panama, Quatar, and Singapore according to Ezell), but I have no information on the 612.  Was the 612 the belt-fed weapon?

Does anybody know the SN on this one from the ATF vault? I cannot make it out
