I think he means it looks like the background should be the Golani Heights or the beach at Haifi. By the way, why do the canteen covers say in Hebrew "For intended use only, not to be taken internally"?

Wow, the correct lower really sets off an A1 build. I really like those Coal Valley lowers. Too bad States like yours have those goofy laws that drive the price up on stuff like that. Hopefully ASA will get that batch of retro lowers done soon. |

Colt probably has staplers or carpet stains in their building that have been there far longer than RRA has been in business. new-arguy, 2005

Raptor,
First, awesome rifle! Second, (and I hope this isn't a dumb question), how do A1 lowers like yours and current A2 lowers differ? It appears there is less reinforcement by the pivot pin on the A1... anything else? It's funny, as soon as I saw your pic I ran to the gun cabinet all excited... I used an EA Coal Valley lower on my very recent A1 clone project also... but NOPE, it's an A2 lower (serial # around 9000). Darn it! Shal1 |

Ahhh, now I get it. Israel has more than sand to it, so I missed the humor. Being as I didn't write it, I've got no idea, but when things are given to me I try not to ask too many questions..... |

Might be a next project.......but, we were watching Mail Call last night, it was an episode where Gunny was shooting an M1 Garand. I told Frau Quib that an M1 would be a nice partner for my 98k Mauser……..she said I should get one from the CMP! I still think I was dreaming! |
||
|
Gee, and I just happen to know a little CMP affiliated club that could fix you up with a membership card so you can order one...... |

Also, would a chrome slabside B/BC be accurate in a slabside SP1 upper from, say, the 70's? |

Here is a thread discussing thaose differences. (it is from the Archive, so I hope you can 'see' it) Differences in A1, A2 lowers If not, let me know and I will IM you the highlights, so as not to de-rail the retro talk |

Got it from a friend that went under in the early nineties Works really well. The logo on the Mag well is a fancy MIM. |

I have a Bushmaster lower and 11.5/5.5 barrel that's destined to become an XM177E2 clone. Does anyone still make A1-style uppers without the brass deflector?

Actually they have second generation owners, they were bought for $214.00 each back in 1966. My Dad bought one and my cousins Dad bought the other one. They were ordered from Colt and factory engraved with our Dad's names on the lower right receiver.

DPMS makes a slab side upper (no f/a or deflector) with the orig handle/sight.
|
|
|
is it the old colt gray or is it the newer black? |
||
|
From Pg 33 of their 2005 catalog:
STRIPPED A1 SLICK-SIDED UR-01-E3SS $144.95 A1 style fixed carry handle Patterned after the original slick-sided A1 Dust cover only, no shell deflector or f/a Forged 7075 alu. that has been T6 heat-treated, hard coat anodized(Mil-A-8625A) Teflon coated black. I guess they're black. The pic is smallish and b/w. Hope this helps |
