What is the best all around barrel length? 10.5? 8.5? 7.5?

Also which flash suppressor for such a short barrel?

A2, YHM, Vortex.

Thinking about doing my first pistol.

Supposedly the "best" all around SBR length is 11.5 or 12.5. Better ballistics and still compact.

If you are going short, a linear comp will make it more pleasant for you and those next to you. Covert Comps work well. Not much flash suppression, but it pushes the concussion forward.

For 5.56mm/.223 nothing shorter than 10.3 if you want more than a range toy.

I prefer linear comps, everything else is very loud.

I just completed a 11.3" pistol with a Kaw Valley Precision linear comp. Hope to get a chance to shoot it next weekend.

Based on experiences shooting other short barrel 5.56 AR's I would strongly recommend a linear comp to direct the concussion down range.
