I use the SBM4 from SB Tactical and it's my favorite, more expensive tho. A cheaper alternative that works is the KAK shockwave blade, but it isn't as comfortable in my opinion.

I've only had the SBM4 for a few days but I like it much better than the shockwave. Even though it's rubber and flexible, it feels sturdier to me.

You should change the title of this thread to more accurately reflect what you want.
Because BEST and CHEAP usually do not go together. Either you want the BEST, or you want the CHEAPEST. Best is probably the Maxim Defense Collapsible Brace. Cheapest is probably the Shockwave Blade.

I prefer the SBM4 brace, though it is a bit expensive for what you are getting. But even so, there's nothing else in the same price range (or cheaper) that I like better.

I'm using a shockwave blade as a placeholder until the stamp comes back. It does it's job as that well.
The way I see it, you're going to spend at least $200 for a really nice brace, so it kind of depends on which direction you want to go, keep it as a pistol with a high end brace, or spend as little as possible with the shockwave (less than $30) and spend the $200 on the stamp. |

Back when we couldn't shoulder the braces without going to prison, I was using shockwaves. Now that we're allowed to shoulder them. I'm using the sob brace. Shockwave has no surface area on the back and it's hard plastic. The sb tactical is soft rubber and has double the surface area against your shoulder.
I guess it depends on what's important to you. The comfortable brace costs 3x as much. It was worth it to me to pay the extra. It's like charging handles and triggers. Some guys are fine with the basic ones for $15 and some dudes feel like dropping $150 on them. |

My favorite is the Thordsen cheek rest. Not "brace" like the shockwave or sig brace, but very comfortable and well made.

Quick question.
I found a knockoff brace on ebay that is quite similar to the KAK blade but half the price. Do they have to come with a letter from the ATF or are all braces considered GTG as long as they meet the atf spec? |

Shockwaves have been on sale for $30 from time to time so I suppose if you're patient you could find one. I paid $40-$50 each for all mine.
I like Shockwaves for my AR pistols, they're light, cheap, and adjustable. I also have an SOB47 on a Draco AK pistol that previously had an SB47. The SOB47 is much better than the SB47 as it's slimmer & about 5" longer, same dimensions as the SM4. Both SOB & Shockwave are comfortable to shoulder & cheek weld. The heavier SOB47 balances the Draco better than a Shockwave. My only complaint with the SB braces is that over time my SB47 brace started to rotate. It's not hard to fix (glue it, pin it, or use a clamp) but the Shockwave with it's set screw never moves. IMHO the 'best inexpensive' brace is a Shockwave. |

I got my Shockwave in yesterday and installed it "good n tight" where I want it on my pistol buffer. Have you guys run into problems with the set screw working loose? Should I put some blue Locktite on it?

The shockwave blade sucks. Very uncomfortable. The lower point of the blade punches your shoulder.
