How far out would a 5.56 chambered 7.5" barrel  be effective to if you're running supersonic rounds?  300 yards?

100m is on tape: https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=12&v=QG6z7GkK_zg

Instead of 3200 fps, they start out a bit slower: http://www.sadefensejournal.com/wp/?p=1093  closer to 2,200 fps. Apply a ballistic ap and see what the foot pounds would be at 400 and the comparable pistol round at 50. You have an answer to how lethal it is.

A .308 isn't hitting very hard at 1,800 m but there are some very skilled people doing it for a living. That's why it's hard to define effective. It's when the target can no longer respond in return. He does NOT have to be dead right there. Effective just means can't - or won't - return fire.

Let's define the MINIMUM amount of force it takes to propel a .22 caliber bullet 12 inches into media and then consider how little is really necessary. That range from a 7.5" is then still potentially lethal.

How often do we read of bullets falling out of the sky and killing innocent people?
