Looking for a quick answer on this.  Looking at buying 2 AR pistol uppers that are on sale, and not building untill late in the year.  I don't have the lowers yet.  Any legal issues with owning/storing the uppers until build time?  Thanks

Technically there is nothing illegal as long as you don't attach the uppers to any rifle lowers that you might own.

Be warned though that for whatever reason if the ATF or law enforcement were to search your home and found short barrels and rifles around they could get you with constructive intent to manufacture an illegal SBR if they were not attached to pistol lowers already.

That's just the kind of world we live in today I suppose.

Like Mukist said. If you have an AR15 and have short barrel uppers and no pistol lower of SBR tax stamp, it could be construed as intent. Hate to have to fight that one.

Do yourself a favor and buy a cheap $40/$50 stripped lower.

Thanks guys.  I'll just buy the lowers first to avoid a headache.  Sucks tho..... found the uppers at a great price and they will be sold out shortly.  Oh well.

Where are the uppers in stock at a great price?

Help the rest of us out. Haha.

Unless you do something sufficiently retarded to warrant a police search of your home, it's not going to be an issue. But if you want some insurance, buy a stripped lower, and any potential "constructive possession" issues go away. Unless you do something retarded.

Intent has nothing to do with it. You've either made an NFA firearm or you have not.

Having a short barrel with an unlawful way to use it, but with no lawful way to also use it -- you have made one whether you actually physically assembled it or not.

So very true.

It is only in the convoluted government enigma that intent is only considered after the firearm is actually assembled.

Op, you just need 1 lower, not multiple lowers.
