Save your money and just buy some back up sights for now.  And consider the Aimpoint Pro or H-1/T-1.

Hate to see good money just thrown away.

I would look at an AImpoint PRO, Primnary Arms, Vortex Strikefire or Sparc 2.

I love my Primary Arms micro-dot.  Got it last year during their black Friday sale for like $70.  I mounted it on my newly built AR pistol in early December and got it zero'ed up at 50 yards.  For kicks I Left the sight turned on at a low, but still visible power setting (3 of 11) to see how long the battery would last.  Well its now almost 11 months later and it's still on and going strong with the factory battery.  Has held zero fine and is a good option IMO.

Then again, if your heart is set on the EOtech either way, I would probably just get some irons (you'll want them anyway) and just use those until you save up for the EOtech.

I just got this and am in love with it on a pistol.  My recommendation no matter what is don't go eotech, I've chewed through a lot of them professionally and personally and strongly recommend an aimpoint or trijicon over the eotech.

Lucid HD7, or M7 Micro, or

the new Aimpoint ACO. http://soldiersystems.net/2014/10/19/aimpoint-release-new-carbine-optic/

Made this thread interesting.

Love my Eotechs and my Aimpoints but when it comes to budget optics I always choose Primary Arms

Unless the ACO is under $300, I would just wait until i can get a PRO for cheap. The pro mount is better, and the optic is better.

tell you what, i have had a "top of the line"  Sightmark (omg!!!) for awhile now and it has performed great. easy to sight in and holds a good zero on a 7.62 x39 AR. wouldn't want it to go into combat, but otherwise it seems good to go.
