I see your lower is engraved "Model Pistol". I hadn't seen a commercial lower designated as a pistol. Must be my limited exposure to AR pistol lowers in CA. I imagine IL has some strange laws as well... Has no legal significance, federally or in any state. - OS |

Very cool. Only thing that I don't like are the quad rail and the grip, but those are personal preference and hey, I'd shoot it. The Battlegrip fits my hand perfectly. I use them on all my AR's. Definitely personal preference. And the rail is good for using a pop up front sight. I wanted it low and out of the way. I could have went gas block, but I liked the Daniel Defense upper that already had the rail on it so I just went that route. |

Maybe it would avoid any confusion by people wanting to class this as a rifle. I know te rules, but not everybody does. |

Maybe it would avoid any confusion by people wanting to class this as a rifle. I know te rules, but not everybody does. Didn't know if IL had a requirement to mark the lower "Model Pistol" since I hadn't seen it done on a commercial lower before. I etched my 80% lower "Pistol" to minimize confusion as well, being from a state that has confusing firearms laws. I also etched the CA state map and put a bear from the flag on it. Hard for someone to imagine I brought it into the state of CA illeagally with all the CA markings. Point of origin becomes obvious. Having hard time finding a licensed "Assault Weapons" dealer to ship my CA registered HK out of state for repair. CADOJ told me I would have to re-register it before bringing it back into CA, which of course is incorrect and not possible under the Roberti-roos law. CADOJ is confused as well..... anything to help reduce confusion should help everyone if a situation should arise. |

Thanks everybody. I am planning on taking it out today and seeing if it shoots as good as it looks. Let us know! I bet it was fun! It was great. The STD linear comp really works great. I was under an aluminum overhang and it still was pretty good on concussion. The only malfunctions I had was when I switched to a 30 round mag from a 20 while on the bench. I stood up and it ran through with no problems so that must have been the issue. I am very happy with it. I did not get any pics, but it sighted in very easy and grouped very well. I burned through 200 rounds and the only problems were those I mentioned. I am extremely happy with it. |
