[ARCHIVED THREAD] - First AR Pistol

Looking for my first AR pistol. I have a chance to get the SiG 516 with a 10" bbl for about 1300 bucks. Brand new. Is it worth it or should I go gas and get something considerably less in price? I have the money and buy my guns for lifetime not till I need money.

I appreciate any and all feedback.

The Sig's are nice at a cost. It's really comes down to being a personal thing at that point if cash isn't a option. Just bear in mind they have a number of proprietary parts and who knows what the future holds.

Nice choice. You can also build a nice set up for that same money.

Just shot one last weekend its nice but heavy and like the above poster said....you can build something as nice or nicer for the same money.

What can I build? I want something that is reliable and won't be lableled a 'shooter'. Like I said I don't buy to sell, but besides the piston action what is prop that they have that could break? Trigger group is standard AR.
