I'm sure it's been asked before but has anyone successfully mounted a rifle scope to their ar pistol? I have a Millet DMS 1-4 that I thought about trying out. Thoughts?
This would be on a 11.2" Wilson Combat 6.8 SPC |

Do people use them on SBR's? lol.
Answer is many people do. Only thing that is diff between a sbr and a pistol is the lack of a stock. With a pistol you typically need to nose up to the charging handle so just get a cantilever mount for it. Unsure why people think because its a pistol it needs to be light. Many people own pistols to have an sbr without dealing w a stamp, or are in a state that doesnt allow them. Most aren't building them to be these super light concealable pistols many think they are intended for. Only thing you need to remember is the shorter the barrel, the closer your scope will be to the business end, which can damage the scope if too close to the blast. Most scopes aren't meant to take the repeated beating of a muzzle blast like weaponlights are. Would I ever scope something with a barrel shorter than 10.5... not personally, as the ballistics are already so neutered there would imo be no point to it. Anything 10.5 and up are perfect for a scope. I suggest you look into a Leupold Patrol, they areound 550$ and a larue or AD mount. Outside of that the Burrus MTAC is decent budget glass. Vortex has a nice mid priced scope around 550$ also. If on extreme budget get a Primary arms 1-6. IMO MUCH better than ther 1-4 offering. |
