Just bought a spikes stripped lower and pistol buffer tube kit.
I'm deciding on a 'complete' upper and am inclined to go with a 10.5 DI or maybe piston. I like LWRCs piston system.

How did I do on the buffer tube kit, should I consider a standard buffer tube (carbine length) or will the spikes pistol buffer suffice for a 10.5" barrel?
I like to hold my pistol closer to my line of sight.

Actually wanted to know what works best for flash suppression, what are my best options? Also if anyone has pics of their piston pistol it would be most appreciated.
I plan on a RDS maybe Vortex or Aimpoint with back up irons. I'm trying to keep this below the cost of an LWRC PSD pistol .

Thanks for any input.

Put a Smith Vortex flash suppressor on a 9.5 inched V-51 SBR in 7.62x51. It tamed that, it should tame a 10.5 5.56

Isn't the Spike's buffer tube same length as a carbine one, give or take a hair at most?

The Spikes Pistol buffer tube is likely longer due to the integrated QD in the end of the tube, maybe a 1/2".

Longer is better for me. The spikes tube comes with their T2 buffer. I may decide to use a pistol brace, I have long arms .

So I don't understand, isn't long rather than short what you wanted? What's a pistol brace, you mean the Sig thang?

Have you ever shot an AR pistol? Tried simply laying the tube alongside cheek as third point of contact? Works a treat.

Honestly, I have never shot an AR Pistol. Though looking forward to it.

Let me try to clarify. The tube against the cheek i believe would work fine and agree. I was considering a longer buffer tube so as to include the Sig Thang. I was thinking the pistol brace would be even better? I'm new on AR pistols and wasn't sure on the 'tube length' options that would work for a brace or any other considerations. I was planning on going with a 10.5-11.5 upper and thought this would be a good balance? Plainly, I'm not familiar with pistol buffer tubes and thought that length would matter for the brace configuration. Length, what is the maximum O.A.L. for a pistol?

Thanks.

People are buying the Sig brace to use as shoulder fire. I wouldn't, any more than I'd use a cane tip (also legal) or anything else. It's too short, I hate it. YMMV.

I find a carbine length buffer tube laid alongside cheek offers just about same three point stability, doesn't put cricks in my shoulder and neck, and is just beau coup more comfortable overall. Indeed, I wouldn't have a piston driven pistol, as the only way to stabilize it is pressed out against a single point sling, another method I detest.

But whatever floats your boat, it's your boat. :)
