I don't really know where to post this, and I read up some info but I m slightly confused.
I want to replace my m4 style plastic hand guard to quad rail, I getting either utg mid length or barska, I know they r ok quantity, some may like them some doesn't, is 85bucks, it look much better then my current plastic handguard, now the one I looking at is free float, I pretty much know what I suppose to Do, I m on a budget build, so I want to keep the iron gas block, I already cut the post off, cuz it was in the way for the red dot sight I got. And I will have a flip up iron front sight, and possible flare launcher, and a flesh light, but those 2 things will be much later on and not so important. My question is, will my cut iron gas block clear the raid? I saw a write up, I notice they shave the side too, is that have to be do e, cuz the pic show they cut the bottom and also shave the side and replace with a screw instead the pin, I really don't want to do the pin to screw. Any suggestion how to do it? And how much and where I need to shave? Ty |
| Rofl!!!! Is that the new silencer??? Lol, and no that's not what I mean, I thinking the one that actually have a light bulb in it. Anyway beside that, mainly is fitting the quad rail over a m4 front sight gas block, I already cut the tower part off, just want to see if it fit without further mod |

I have a cheap old red dot, u guys gonna laugh, utg 4moa 1x30, I just bought one to get it rolling, when the price drop slightly here at Texas then I start working toward nicer equipment, this is my first ar build.
So the gas block all I did is cut the top close to by gas chamber area, and bottom piece off, I wouldn't need to shave the side? And I looking at Troy 11 inch quad and barska 10 quad, Troy uses existing barrel nut vs barska use theirs, that don't matter much right? Other easier installation? And thx for replying :) |

| For the life of me I don't understand why you cut on the FSB. You should save your money and buy a good rail. At $85 for the one you are looking at you are 1/3 to 1/4 of the way towards a much better rail. If you want to spend less than $100 you should have looked at Magpul as they have some real nice setups that allow you to attach any number of devices. Just so much wrong with what you have done. Oh well it's your gun I hope you enjoy it. |

| I understand what u saying about cutting it, but then that part can be replace and is not expensive if I ever want that again, but I just do not like the fsb design, I plan on putting magpul buis. I do like magpul guard, but I m just really like the free float design on the quad rail and I wanted one that barely have barrel sticking out., I looking at the Troy, so I m trying to decide, is it worth 100 bucks more if barska/utg have the same function, do they break? Etc |

Yes, I tried and I would have to raise my scope becuz the sight took over 3/4 of the sight scope. And since I plan on using 10-11 inch quad rail, so it make sense for me to cut it, |

Etc No, but they usually don't fit worth a shit(rails don't match up,funky attachment design,etc.). If you MUST have a cheap rail, I have used this one before on a budget .22 build, and they actually fit pretty good and function very well. They look like a copy of Midwest Industries mounting system. Of course as always, YMMV. |
