What muzzle device should i use to on a 7.5 inch for overall help ( in flash, sound, cycling, recoil)?

NOVESKE KX3
SPIKE S.T.A.B.
TROY Claymore
Battlecomp
H.E.R.A arm
PWS CQB
Other -forgot to add Smith Vortex, so put OTHER AS SMITH VORTEX

Which and why?

Other so I could see what others have picked. Others have overwhelmingly picked other.Other than that, Battlecomp looks good though expensive.

The battlecomp was an impulse buy, normally I wouldnt spend that much on something like that.  But like many things that are expensive, it ended up being worth every penny.

On my pistol and SBR I want something not too big and light. I like many of the offerings in this poll, but i settled on the Troy Claymore and it works well for me.

I had the Pig. While it does work for cycling help and sending the blast down range, it's long and heavy.
I changed to a Levang.

Interested in people's responses as I'm building my first pistol and can't decide on my muzzle device. I'm really more concerned with cycling than anything else.

Is the Spike even available anymore?

I'm not sure if Spikes is still available but I have one and I like it. It is adjustable so if your running different ammo and the gun doesn't seem to be running right you can tweek it pretty easy. It directs the sound and flash forward. I really like it. It is however, fairly heavy and pretty long.

I've used the Pig on a 7.5 and the Levang on a 10.5. I like them both.
The Levang can be found for about $32-$35

Kies is making a comp similar to the Levang. Looks like a step up.

I just ordered the Kies for my build so I'll let you know how it performs.

I've got Levangs on my 10.3" Rainier .223 Wylde and my 11.5" Wison 300 BLK. Very happy with both.

I received the Kies today. Have not shot it yet but I like the concept.
Crown is recessed

flats to tighten

About 1/4" longer than the Levang

I put an A2 on mine to downgrade the fireball coming out the front end of mine from 'grenade' to M80.  But am still undecided about what is actually going to end up on there.  I have adjustable gas so I don't need a pig or other baffled type to trap gas and cycle.  I have that all dialed and the thing is 100%.  I also don't want another 3" and 10oz out in front of the guns balance point.

I was looking at the linear comp's to keep blast down.  I have two PWS brakes and they work GREAT - but will take your breath away if you are 90* from the muzzle and within 10ft.  On a 7.5" barrel I want no parts of that.

I looked at the Levang, but gravitated to the KIES, or Troy Claymore due to the actual flats to turn it.  With the muzzle still occluded by the rail... it's already hard enough to get that sorted out.

What I'd like to know since I've seen a few of you suggest them instead.  Is do they increase rearward recoil?
I am not shooting 5.56.  I am shooting 7.62x39 and it does not fuck around in a 5# AR pistol without a stock.

It's not unbearable, but if it was going to get worse, that might make me consider looking into something else.

Does anyone have any thoughts about adding a port or two to the levang/kies/claymore in the vertical axis to change the dynamics of the brake?
I'd really like to get a caliber /thread matched "brake" blank and make my own.

But have been unsuccessful in finding a suitable inexpensive muzzle device to serve as a host for such DIY work.
Basically a 1.5" blast chamber with the front closed off and a caliber specific hole in the front and let me drill and cut what I want it to do.

Info on real world use of the levang / kies in heavier calibers would be extremely welcome.

Sorry for the derail.

the Kies looks similar to the Claymore except without the pointy end.

just got my pistol setup ready this week. will make sure to get some video at the range with the claymore.

It really depends on what you want it to do for you as none do everything well.  Give and take, it's just like in life.

I have a Krinkov-style brake on my 7.5", and it seems to help with cycling. As for flash/blast, not so much. But it's FUN to watch.
