I've used the M16A2 w/ iron sights out to 500 meters, what is considered the maximum effective range of a 11.5" barrel? TIA

Tough to say for certain without chronoing it and doing some math, but just based on the loss in velocity due to the shorter length, I'd throw a shot in the dark guess at about 300 yds for a leathal shot. (Unless you get 'em in the eye )

Thanx, 200-300metres as good as one can expect from a 11.5 barrel.
