What buffer is everyone running successfully in their 7.5" 5.56? I'm running an H2 but wonder if an H3 or a Spikes 6 oz. would be better.

I have 9mm, works just fine. Infact all my carbine lenght 5.56 have them, also owning a few 9mms makes it easier to keep fewer spare parts on hand since they can be used in many of my firearms. Others results may vary.

I run a 9mm buffer in my 10.5. I havn't tried it in the 7.5 yet but was wondering.

RRA 9mm is all I run. 5 pistols, zero problems

I would keep the H2 or go to an ST-SST.

Hey Spike's, I'd like to ask what buffer your pistol tube ships with.  What's the weight on that?

Standard buffer in 9.5".  Runs fine.

I think I read in another thread that Spike's ships their extensions with a standard CAR buffer.

I am using a 9mm RRA buffer on mine.  ADCO Firearms has them in stock backordered (just checked - went out of stock last night I guess) for $23.50 plus $4 shipping.  It's VERY hard to beat that price.

Standard CAR ships with Spikes.  Spring appears a bit shorter than other CAR springs so it might be a bit stiffer with less preload.  I haven't counted the coils or checked gauge of the wire.

The spikes buffer spring is about 1-1/2 coils shorter than a RRA buffer spring. Hence a little bit stiffer, a little less preload and a little less weight than the H buffer supplied by RRA.  Or it could be just random on the springs.....
