I just wanted to test a couple bullets and see if they would fragment at 50 yards. You guys may not care hell this may be the wrong forum but it was done with an ar pistol. 
Saw another guy on the forum use this same method so I figured I’d see what it would do. First up is Hornady 55gr v-max. It poked a lot of tiny holes on the opposite / exiting side but none penetrated the outer layer of the bag where it folded over or made it to the second box of water Only one piece of any size left over. 
Next up was Remington 55gr psp I’ve been using this on deer for 26~ yrs or so. The jacket separated and pretty much the same thing as the v-max lots of tiny holes one big hole on the exiting side but it didn’t make it out of the box to the outer layer of the bag where it folds over…. Note to self bring more water next time only had enough to test 2 bullets

Could you explain your setup a little more? Was the box full of water with the plastic liner in the box, or was the water in bags? In one pic, the brown plastic looks like puffy bags. Also, could you try plain old .223 FMJ next time? 
Also, it is very heartening that you hit a box that size at 50 yards with an AR pistol. Some of the posts here make me think a person couldn't hit a water-filled barn at that range with an AR pistol.

Setup Take milk crate find semiapropriate size trash bag(these are 1.2 mil thick) line the milk crate with trash bag pour water in. The puffy looking pic 4th one down is where the bag is trying to blow out after i got the fragments out(it was a constan 15mph gusting to 35~) I took that pic so people could see the stretch/deformation in the bag after it was shot pretty much the outline of all the holes in the milk crate. The water didn't do that on it's own that was created by the shot.... The 50yrds is a fairly acurate~ measurement i paced it and shot it with a laser rangefinder On entry The v-max completely missed the platic of the milk crate. The remington just grazed it. I plan on testing xm193 and black hills 55gr fmj next time maybe some wolf sp depending on how much water i feal like toten
Looking for a piece of sheetrock so i can shoot threw it into the water also...... I also tested some steel railroad tie plates while i was out. I traded 3 bags of aluminum cans for 8 of these the last time i was at the scrap yard 
Shot it with 55gr black hills red box out of the 10.5" ar pistol at a 100yrds and with a 16"brl AK with wolf....

Don't be fooled a 10.5" barreled AR is very accurate albeit a pistol or SBR, it's all in how you hold it and even better if you are afforded some type of solid rest. There are just some "professionals" who would like you to think that a short barrel can't be reliable or couldn't hit the broad side of a blimp from twenty pace's, all just internet rumors.

Nothing like driving an hr to the range and realizing your wife took the camera out of your range bag.
Since i didn't have the camera and i only had 20 glns of water. takes5 glns per box of water. I decided to test some xm193 and some remington 55gr fmj. I didn't think either would fragment so i just used one box for each shot. That and a friend of mine was telling me the other day one rnd wasn't proof i had to repeat the results for it to mean anything this is scientific shit i'm doing
The xm 193 appears to have fragmented both shots but only a few tiny fragments were left in the box and about a 2 1/2" big hole was blown out the back of the box of water. I started to try to capture the second shot but since i didn't have a camera i passed so i could do two shot with the other ammo. Both shots did basically the same thing....... The Remington did basically the same as the xm193 only the exit hole was only about 1 1/2" ...... very few fragments in the box nothing sizable enough to try to retain for pictures. The box is aroud 12" across and it appears neither of these rnds started to fragment until they were almost exiting the box....... I'm going to have to test this again one day with some sheetrock on the backside and another box of water
Sorry no pics this time it was a nice day to shoot and i wish yall was their to share the fun and haul the damn water
