| Hi I am looking at doing a 7.5 pistol but I need to know if the standard CAR buffer assembly from a 4 position stock will work. I would of course remove the stock portion and mod it so it couldn't go back on for legality. |

As long as the stock portion is not installed it should be legal, wouldn't it? I am asking, not making a statement. |

From what I have read, you don't want to have a stock which will fit on it unless you have a legal use for the stock. Some people go farther than that & modify the receiver extension so a stock won't fit on it. Some people won't use anything but a dedicated pistol receiver extension. |

Yeah I've asked this question time or two myself. Have any of you that have used standard CAR tubes run into any issues with LEOs or other gun owners questioning you? |

I know quite a few people w/ AR pistols. I don't know anyone who has been hassled about it. If you read the letter to BigBore, IIRC it says it's legal to use a rifle or carbine receiver extension, but there may be a problem w/ constructive possession. If you look at how constructive possession seems to be interpreted in non MG cases, it should be legal to have the parts as long as you have a legal use for them. Which translates to me as, it's legal to use a carbine receiver extension, but don't have a stock which will fit it unless you have a rifle you can use the stock on. (IANAL) |

(IANAL) Yeah, we've kicked this one around before on the boards. I will say that I am feeling more comfortable with the idea these days. The letter by Big Bore does seem to address it. Guess we'll just have to wait and see what ends up on my next build |

Has any one heard off/had any issues any issues with the 7.5 uppers from model 1 sales or from any other manufacturers? My 7.5 started as a Model 1 upper. I've replaced some parts since then. My personal opinion is that I will probably never buy another one of their kits. I've have also heard too many bad things about their bolts. The gas block on mine was canted, and the LPK was crap. On the other hand, one of the guys I work with buys kits from them every few months. He seems happy w/ them, so maybe I just had bad luck w/ them. |
