trying to get mine to run reliably.  talked to ed on the phone and he had a few pointers:

1) tube should be threaded 3 threads behind the buffer retainer (buffer retainer and spring not needed so you can remove them)
2) use an upgraded extractor spring
3) make sure gas rings are broken in and oiled

i am still having problems with the bolt not going into battery resulting in light primer strikes, usually if i notice, a tap on the forward assist will seat it.

good luck.  lemme know if you find something that works.

I don't know the hole store of what you are trying to do or what is wrong with it but!
And here come my two cents worth!
Check to see if you let your bolt forward with out a round in it kinda slow does it go all the way in with out using the forward assist?
I had one that for some reason( I think it was rough edges in the locking hub's [>:// )
I took an old bore brush and put my drill on it and spun it in the chamber for about 30 seconds. After that it never had that trouble again.

I can't even compress the spring in to the tube w/o it bending. I installed the buffer into the carrier, and tried running the spring on the guide. That's as far as i get.

Can you lay it out like you have it in the tube and take a picture of it so we can see?

I have several GSE pistols that I've built.  The spring is a little tricky to not bend, but you'll get the hang of it.  Put a few drops of oil in between the threaded cap and the rubber bushing so that it can spin freely.  Assuming you're right-handed, grip the buffer tube in your left hand and drop the spring into the buffer, ENSURING THAT IT GOES INSIDE THE BOLT CARRIER BUSHING/ADAPTER.  Then, but the rubber pad and metal spring guide in the cap, place it in the center of the palm of your right hand, and place all of your fingers around the buffer tube to hold it perfectly straight as you compress the spring.  When the cap touches the buffer, carefully start the threads while keeping enough pressure on the cap to keep it centered.

If you're still stuck, email me and I'll take a short video and email it to you.
