Just bought a BM carbon 15 97 pistol yesterday and first fired it today using 2 different types of ammo. Right off the bat I had problems with the bolt not locking all the way forward. I would drop the magout of it and pull the charing rod and have it slam forward plug the mag back in and the next round would do the same. It's like it's not meshng all the way forward to fire position. Help please.  Here is a pic. I am experenced in pistols but am new to the AR.

Been there done that with my Bushmaster 97 pistol I had. After 2 trips back to Bushmaster, they authorized the store I got it at to refund my money. I have since then bought a Rock River pistol lower. I am going to build my own.

Call Bushmaster. I had a problem with mine and they were great to deal with and had the upper back to me in about a week.

Spoke with their service dept earlier this week and sent it in for repair. They said it should be about a week.

I have the same pistol and HAD the same problem.  It now runs all day with Wolf ammo and Thermold magazines (go figure!)  The mags are a nice match.  I tried probably 10 brands of ammo and with Wolf (and Brown Bear) it works perfectly.  Never found a single milsurp load that worked.  Bushmaster does say that most milsurp rounds won't function right.

Also, it needs some break in time, maybe 150-200 rounds.  Lube the bolt carrier and don't milk the recoil.

Bring hot dogs also altho they do get an odd taste from being quick roasted by the muzzle flash.

I sent it out last friday and they got it tuesday because of the holiday. I got it back saturday. They shipped out yesterday and I asked if they could do a saturday delivery and they did no extra charge. I had a 21s foregrip and a lower accessory rail put on. They said the bolt was tight fitting so the cleaned/filed it to mesh better.
Took it to the local range today and had to use frangible and the 1st 10 to 15 were ok then it took the head of the ammo and got lodged in the barrel, had it cleaned out then it wouldn't feed for shit. There was so much frangible ammo crap and little pieces all around the front of the bolt. Cleaned it as best as I could with a rag cause that is all I has. Got fed up and left to go to a range where there ar no frangible restrictions and used wolf ammo and only had a slight few problem with the ammo but it was 95% better with the ammo even though the bolt was filthy. Also put a cheap red dot on it, but it works great.
