Hi all.  I've found a lot of helpful information about applying to have an SBR.  The question I have, that I can't find the answer to, is regarding the government's decision to issue the permit.  If you meet the criteria and complete all the paperwork, do they have to issue it (like the shall-issue CCW states) or can they decide to not allow it (like the may-issue states)?  Do you have to give a reason, or is "because I want one" good enough?  I'll be moving to Florida in the very near future, so that's where I will be applying.  Thanks in advance.

If you have no prohibiting conditions, I have not heard of people being turned down. Then again, being denied the 'priviledge' of making an SBR isn't exactly the kind of thing people brag about...

If you can pass the background check to buy a gun, you should pass the NFA check.  You do have to put a reason, most put "all lawful purposes".  Check out the NFA / class 3 forums here, under arms & tactics.
