I have a pistol barrel project going and need advice on what muzzle device to use.  Is just a regular flash hider good to go?  I have a YHM phantom on my 10.5 and it's loud but not much more than a 16 incher but it does had the flash real good.  I tried a Noveske KX3 and wasn't that happy with it for the price.  I'm not that worried about noise as I am flash I guess.  There was a pic I saw on here not too long ago and someones 7.5 was kicking out like 2 foot flames out of every slot in the FH.

That's par for the course on barrels that short. Try a Vortex FH. I hear they do the best for pistol-length bbls. The only way you can significantly reduce flash beyond that is w/ a quality C3 sound suppressor.
That's just my $0.02 for what it's worth.

I have a Vortex on my 9.5" barrel. It seems to work very well. Well as well as you could expect it to anyway. You're still talking about a rifle round here that is designed to keep burning while the bullet travels 25-30". So you are gonna get some flames. Maybe I'll even get some flames for this post. But anyway, I think the Vortex FH works pretty well. JMHO.
