First off I have read every pistol and buffer post on the forum and I have searched for my answer, however it still eludes me. I want to buy a already built AR pistol. I am trying to decide between the Olympic Arms OA-93, the Olympic Arms K23P or a Bushmaster Carbon 15 97S.

I know opinions vary, but most of you out there have had experience with both companies and all three weapons.  My question is "What would YOU advise your best friend or a new guy,  to buy. Something that would run out of the box with preferably no FTF's or FTE.

I know the Olys, come with a limited lifetime guarantee but they say no Wolf or other steel ammo. On the other hand Bushmaster as a 1 year warranty and they don't mind you using Wolf or S&B ammo.

I currently have a RRA M4 and a DPMS M4 in 9mm. The 9mm does have somewhat of a problem with FTF and FTE, but that another story.

Any help would really be appreciated.

Talking ONLY about out of the box... because a custom built would make you happier in the long run.

I own the Bushmaster and have fired other people's OA pistols.

From the stand-point of FTE/FTF - I've heard enough (and seen enough) to believe that they are similar statistically.

From a handling point, I prefer the Bushmaster. Better heat shielding (and non-conductive material). All the same AR-15 muscle reflexes and operating locations, makes it nice to shoot instead of "learn" everytime.

Maint - I'm very happy with all the parts and modifications I can do with existing AR-15 stuff already on the market for the Bushmaster.

I've fired alot of the Wolf ammo and other's (Win, Fed, etc) and find that most of my mis-feed jams are due to two things:
- Limp wristin' - don't get lazy and use a shoulder strap rig (either single point or dual).
- Magazine twist - if you can avoid "pulling" or pushing on the magazine in the well, you will avoid mis-feeds

Also, Bushmaster's service people are good people. No BSing you or playing you for a chump.
Have no input on OA's service personnel.

Just my $.02

Thanks for the two replys, I was expecting a few more people would have opinions on what was the better gun. From what I have seen I think the Bushmaster has a bit better resale value so I will most likley go that route.

from what ive seen and had happen to me the folks at bushmaster are incredible with their customer service.

i had many times when i managed to lose a single spring for the detent on my bushy rifle, i call em up and within a few days i had a new detent pin in my mail box free of charge.  also this was more than a year after the "warranty" expired.  also they have been nothing but courteous with me and all others ive seen with bushmasters.

now on to my bushy pistol

my 21s has worked flawlessly and with no issues whatsoever.  it went great in semi and when i tried bumping it (it bumped like a a champ btw ) with my dirty nasty and evil wolf ammo.

so if anyhting id say go with bushy and if you get problems call em up and send it in and they will always be there to help

if only every gun manufacturer had the same customer service etiquete

i did a self build and its been a great lil gun. so far 100% excpet for one failure that had to do with the magpull follower sticking a little in the front causeing a few rounds to nose dive into the bottom of the feed ramp, that same mag worked perfect in my M4gery with its extended ramps.
if i did it all over again i would use a CMMG barrel mainly because the extended M4 feed ramps. I know you dont need them if everything is working the way its suppose to but it sure is nice.

I have a couple of Bushmaster Carbon-15's 9mm and .223, but I have to say the CMMG pistol looks real cool.

I am feeling better about my choice of a Bushmaster. I have the mechanical aptitude of a caveman, well maybe not that bad, but I am better at breaking things than building them. The good reliability and the customer service is a big selling point to me. Thanks for the replies.

You'd be doing yourself a real favor by looking at a CMMG before going the Bushy route, if you haven't already.  I have the CMMG 7.3" Pistol and it runs perfect.  One of my friends has the Bushy and I think they make a fine weapon but even my friend is now looking to dump his Bushy for a CMMG.  Nothing wrong with Bushmaster, I own several and love them but you asked what is the best "Out of the Box Pistol" that we would refer to a friend or buddy; and in my personel opinion, it's a CMMG pistol. YMMV

You may be correct about the CMMG 7.3 Pistol mil-spec chrome lined, and MP tested,
padded pistol buffer assy, and two mags, cleaning kit and sling. Lifetime warranty.

That is a bit better than the 97S, The only thing I don't really like on the CMMG is the hand guard
but that is an easy change. In fact I will be removing the lower rail on the Bushmaster. As you haved guessed, I had my FFL send the order in for the Bushmaster. It won't be the first time or the last time I have went the wrong way. ( I think I still have a "Sony BeteMax" in the attic.
Well if  I am not happy with it, I'm sure my FFL guy will give me a good price when I trade it in on a
CMMG. (Right, and gas prices are going to go down too.)  Much Thanks for the input, let me know what your friend gets for his Bushmaster if or when he sells it.

i don't have experience with those you are intrested in.  buy a cmmg and you will not be diappointed.  mine had a couple problems out of the box (carrier key screws became loose) but cmmg was top notch in dealing with said problems.  it's nice to call for help and directly get in touch with the guys that build and fix (if needed) your weapon.  the customer service from all folks at cmmg was excellent.  i will buy from cmmg again.  i also own a bushy m4 but think more of the cmmg.  man, i sound like a salesman...sorry...just highly impressed.
