Took my AR10 to range. It was unfired. Aero M5 .308. Pulled the trigger and fired, but it caused a malfunction. After taking a look, I saw the casing was still stuck in there and another round was right behind it.
I then proceeded to try to manually cycle the next round after clearing the malfunction, and same thing happened, except this time, I could not for the life of me even eject the round out of the chamber by pulling the charging handle back. It was stuck, until I broke down and took the upper and lower off and forced the bcg out myself Any thoughts where I should start looking? 2017-06-12_07-15-23 by BosanaCZ, on Flickr

IMO, the first I'd check is the extractor. Take if off, and if it has two O-rings, I'd take one out and try it with just one. I have no idea why they keep using two O-rings when it causes so many people issues. One should suffice, and usually that alleviates the issue (since with two, often it will be too tight to snap over the rim when feeding, or if it does snap over it binds so hard that it won't let go and allow the spent casing to swing out after firing).
Just my .02, I'd start with that. |

If the fired brass and/or loaded cartridge is getting stuck/staying in the chamber, messing with the extractor won't help.
Pics of the fired case and unfired removed stuck case? Sounds like you could have a rough or dirty chamber... I'd try a damn good scrub job on the chamber first. Is the barrel factory Aero? What ammo did you try? |

Barrel was sourced from here:
Link It was unfired, and lubed prior to shooting. I tried PMC and Federal. |

Cheap/low cost barrel so the chamber is still suspect to me. Could be rough... causing cases to stick. So just to get it right... cases are STUCK in the chamber after firing correct? Can you chamber a loaded round and eject it w/o a problem? Can you post a pic(s) of the fired brass? |

Update. Thanks for this. There were indeed two o-rings, and I took one out. Now, I can cycle the rounds and extract them by cycling the action manually. Just need to go shoot to verify, but so far it solved my problem of not ejecting rounds. Thanks very much. ETA- on a side note, I'm curious as to how the extractor pressure due to the extra O-ring caused this... I've read where the extra O-ring prevents the case from releasing from the bolt, was not aware it could cause stuck cases in the chamber. I've had a couple extractors that dug into the case rim preventing release but they had no effect on extraction from the chamber. |

I was able to get two shots yesterday, both hit bullseye touching each other, with just an EOtech at 50yds standing. So, I'd say it's pretty darn accurate. ![]() With the cheap barrels and parts, there's alot that can go wrong after 100rds. I highly suggest doing a full outing, at the least, fire 100 trouble free rounds and reassess the rifle. There could be damage to the receivers and bcg that you won't see until 200+ rounds down range. |
