6.5 Grendel will not be competitive in F-Class. There 2 divisions, Open (any caliber) and F/TR (.308 or .223 only). At 1000 yards you'll be competing against 6mmBR Norma, 6.5x47mm Lapua, 6-6.5 Creedmoor, 6.5 Creedmoor and a host of bigger calibers that will outperform the Grendel by a huge margin. I personally wouldn't consider a semi-auto for F-Class competition, most people are running 30" (or longer) barrels and semi-autos are simply not designed to support barrels that long.

6.5x284 is a great long range cartridge. If you belong to a local club that has reduced course F-Class tournaments (300 yards only) then a 6.5 Grendel will work just fine. A good .223 will work fine at that range. The ten ring is 3" at 300 yards which is a lot easier than a 10" ten ring at 1000.

The F-Class open division is an equipment race. It's common to have rifles and optics in combination that approach $5000. I would try .223 at some of the reduced courses just to get your feet wet and a little experience before deciding to build a dedicated rifle. You'll be able to see what the others are using and who's actually shooting great scores.
