Really like your mag & drum. Do both have the bolt hold open on the last round feature? Is there any instructions out on the web regarding how to build this mag? I bought three USA drums at a gun show just after the 94 ban, none worked because of tip drop. I was really pissed and even though I had a chunk of change invested I was determine to make them work. I cut them apart and reworked them to increase the mag angle to eliminate the tip drop. They do not hold the bolt open, I was working on a Beta type mechanism but lost interest in finishing that part of the project. I have written some articles in the past about it as there were many folks at the time who said it could not be done. I believe I was the first with success To avoid re-inventing the wheel I will see if I can find them. Most were written on arfcom, someone with strong search foo might try to find them, they'd be a decade old or so. One of the few conversions I've done/had that I'd stake my life on. Iif you live near me you hear me empty a couple drums the first morning of rifle season warning poachers about where they tread. |

Are the mods going to link this thread here? http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_3_121/492214_AR15_Variants__Links_to_picture_threads.html
And do that thing so it doesn't go to archives? |

CBC complete upper for $360 and it works very well through 400 rounds of 123gr Barnaul monarch. 30% off sale I had a major issue with mine (misplaced gas block) and posted the full review in this sub-forum but CS was good and it came back gtg. Anyway, I'm excited to test it @ 200-400m to see if the holds on my Weaver1-5x24 CIRT reticle work as well as I believe they should. It seems Weaver accidentally made a bdc reticle that fits 7.62x39 in metric (which I prefer to use). According to the Hornady ballistic calculator, the drops for a .26bc 123gr round @ 715m/s are 1mil(200m), 2.7(300m), 4.9(400m), 7.8(500m) when zeroed @ 100m. The corresponding holds on the reticle are 1, 2.6, 4.9, 8. I don't ever plan on using 500m and probably only testing 400m but the 200 and 300 will come in handy. I put the MBT in a plain A2 Bushmaster lower for $1100 total and am happy with a fun, inexpensive plinker/hunter. It would have been $900 with the planned Tac30 but I had to stick with the Weaver since it seems made for the job. EDIT: Radical upper/AIM nitride bcg with Bushmaster A2 lower, MBT, and Weaver 1-5 - $1100 CBC upper with PA dot, Amazon/UTG mount, PSA lower with STR/EPT kit - kept this under $700 which was the original idea with a cheap 7.62x39 plinker. AR Stoner A3 complete upper with heavy 16" bbl from Midway (Black Friday sale now for $280), AR Stoner tube, 80% lower, Midwest Industries 9" SP M-LOK handguard, Magpul CTR stock, Ergo grip, Geissele G2S, Sightmark Ultra-Shot M-Spec red dot, Black Rain adjustable gas block.
http://i1014.photobucket.com/albums/af269/p8phellfire3/001.jpg This is my first camo job, done with Duracoat, based on this scheme: http://www.houtsenterprises.net/dur_bengal.html I just changed the colors to work with Colorado mountains, using T3 Tactical Coyote Brown and T15 Tac Foliage Green with some white airbrushed across the tiger stripes to dull them and add some light contrast on the overlap. Topped everything off with Duracoat Matte Clear. Jonno |

The owner of RZE is working to make the mags drop free. Mine was from a batch that were a little wide. |

Thanks - I guess I don't have enough of an account history to post pics.
I should add that I just finished assembling the gun, so its still untested. I'm sure I'll need to fiddle with one thing or another, but I'm excited to get to the range. |

Unfortunately I don't have a digital scale, but I weighed it on the digital bathroom scale when I was putting it together. It read as 6 lbs even without the optic or mag, and 7.8 lbs with the optic installed and an empty mag. I won't pretent that's necessarily accurate.
