| I see you can get these for around $1,100 -$1,600. Are these any good? |

I built on a matrix receiver set and it's sexy. Has some annoying proprietary parts, but if you are looking at a complete rifle that won't matter. Matrix builds the receivers for the ruger 762 What are the proprietary parts? I thought it used all armalite stuff, including the barrel nut? |
| They have DPMS and AR10 versions. The receiver shape and rail height is AR10, but they have versions using both barrel nuts. Mine uses AR10 but I think the newer ones are threaded for DPMS. The pivot and takedown pins are different than both patterns. The takedown pin retaining spring/detent comes in through the rear like a normal AR, not like a standard 308AR through the grip area. Because of that, the spring needs to be longer than standard LPKs. Regular DPMS bolt catch doesn't have enough meat to lock back on an empty mag. I'd recommend anyone building on a matrix set buys the matrix LPK, as it has all the right stuff. There also seems to be an issue with the FA binding up on certain carriers. I had to run a plug with my DPMS carrier. I know at least one guy who didn't have any issues and I think it was an aero BCG. I'm running the AR10 barrel nut/handguard with DPMS pattern barrel, BCG, and buffer parts. Got a great deal from Chris at centralfloridafirearms.com and he knows a lot about the brand. |

Do you mean the dust cover rod, or the actually cover? If the cover, maybe they put an AR15 by mistake. If you're seeing 1/8" gap on both sides, that's the problem.
But if you're referring to the rod itself, Armalite makes a longer rod for free float handguards. |
