| Several of you have suggested building a lower instead of ordering one. Currently the local shops have Anderson, Spikes, and Stag lowers in stock. Of the three the Anderson and Spikes range from $60-90 depending on the shop, and the Stag is running $115 at the one shop carrying it. Is there anything I need to look for specifically of the three brands mentioned. I've searched some old posts and read the stuff Anderson did on fishing the masses on here for feedback. Outside of that is there any other reason I would want to avoid them besides poor business ethics? I'm going to guess that all three are made to mil-spec and don't have any odd sizes on them. Humor me as this is still a new learning stage for me. I've never done a build before. Still have my mind settled on the 6.8 round though. |

I have built on Anderson and Spikes of the three you mention. I have found nothing wrong with either of them and all my mags have dropped free from all of them, but then again, I do not like P-Mags so don't use them. All other mags of steel, aluminum, and polymer construction drop free just fine.
I personally like the Spikes lowers the best for one reason only, I like their safe/semi/full bullet markings instead of the words 'safe' and 'fire.' Other than that I don't see a nickels worth of difference. When it comes to roll marks, Spikes offers you a pretty good selection whereas Anderson only offers the flying pony. Between Spikes spider and the flying pony, I'd take the flying pony over the dueling penises (once you see the dueling penises instead of the spider, you can never un-see it) any day, but Spikes offers other roll markings that I like much better than the flying pony. However, with Anderson coming in at half the price of the Spikes, for a non-theme build or for a nothing special build, the Anderson lowers work perfectly and are a great deal, especially at $40 or less. If they offered bullet markings I'd be buying Anderson almost exclusively but it is worth it, on some of my builds, to go with the Spikes bullet markings and other roll marks. |

HA! I thought PSA was the only dueling peepees. Haha! Just like the cock-mod, i mean keymod. Some things you just can't undo in your mind.
Anyways, of those 3, i would get the Stag, i can't get past the peckers now, haha! Stag makes good stuff, but are a little pricey. |

Ended up going with the Anderson. I could get two for the price of one Stag Arms lower. The place with lowers in stock on the shelf where less than the shop that had to order them and charge a fee. $54 and change (with tax) VS. $59 + tax and order fee $20.
