I am in the market for a new BCG. I dont need anyhting really special but would like something decent. I have a DPMS LR 308, any recommendations?

I recommend spending a few extra dollars on a Nickel Boron coating.  Makes cleaning much easier.

Ok thank you, I will look into it. Now is there anything special you have to do with a new bolt or do you just pop it in and fire away?

He needs a .308 BCG.  AIM has some.

You have to be careful with a new bolt. 308s have a much higher rate of headspace issues than 5.56 ARs. Whichever BCG you go with I would highly recommend checking the headspace. You will have to buy a set of gauges or find a gunsmith to do it for you. I am a fan of a coated BCG but with 308 nitrited(melonite, qpq) is the way to go. The thin layer of Nickle boron could be enough to make the headspace to small. JP makes a great BCG but they are expensive. Some others are AIM, Rubber City Armory, PSA, Rainier Arms, DPMS, and Fulton Armory. The best option might be to get a carrier(without bolt) in your preferred coating and then get an enhanced bolt from JP or Rubber City. I know dpms, fulton, and rubber city sell just the carrier. I'm sure others do as well if you look around. For my Maten I went with a NiB BCG from PSA knowing I might have bolt issues. My chamber is tight but it passed and I have yet to have a single failure with that rifle, other peoples experiences may vary.

I went with the AIM Nitride BCG  as that's what Faxon uses in their test rifles.
