That either means I'm GTG or this is to messed up a list to fix. Anyway thanks for all the knowledge I've gotten here. 1st .308 build. I've done 7 or so AR15'S so far. Well if this doesn't work out as planned I will be selling everything on EE. Thanks for all the views! |

Although I wouldn't build a .308 like that, to criticize it would be to interject personal preferences. |

Personal opinions are welcome as well. Is my approach flawed? I tried to research every part. There are a few things I'm sure I will change like trigger and sights down the road.
Please any comment or suggestion is welcome. Thanks for the comment on my list! PasoGunner |

I would recommend an adjustable gas block.
It can reduce action speed (reduced felt recoil) and solve a lot of problems at the range when you discover your over gassed. With 308 builds, it can really help out a bunch. Especially since it's harder to swap around buffer weights to get things tuned. I use the SLR Rifleworks gas block and it's awesome. With my 18" rainier match barrel, I was able to turn the gas down a bunch (4 positions from completely off) |

Chrismartin,
Thank you for the advice. On the over gassed issue that's why I talked to Clint at Heavy Buffers. I realize I could have got adjustable gas block for what I spent on buffer and spring. I was under the impression if I ran unsupressed I may be ok. If I am still over gassed then I will look into the gas block you mention. Quick question. Can I adjust gas block without removing front hand guard? Thanks aging for all the help! |

On the SLR the gas adjustment is on the front and they sell long 2mm ball end hex screw drivers (made by Bondhus and can be sourced elsewhere as well) that can reach well inside the hand guards. Any long 2mm ball end hex will work though for SLR's gas blocks. The SLR has very positive clicks and is easily adjustable like this with the hand guards kept on and in my case, even the silencer and such. Other gas blocks of different designs, I cannot speak to. |
